Whilst I've been busy with other things I have been looking around my neighbourhood working out how to present it in a new light. I've lived in Lyme Regis for 3 years now and have always presented it before as a happy thriving town, full of tourists in the summer and calm and empty in the winter. But the reality of it is that in the summer the street that I live on is constantly clogged with traffic and people in cars who are showing their worst sides as they try to manoeuvre the very narrow main street into the town. At the peak times of day, around 10.30-12 noon and 3.00 - 5.00 pm, it is impossible to drive down. I want to capture how clogged it is and dangerous for pedestrians even to walk on the pavements.
Also the old town, where I live, is an area consisting mainly of wonderful old buildings but they are all holiday lets or second homes. There is very little community spirit around because the home owners rarely visit and they let the cottages out to make a profit. Our nearest neighbour (across the very busy road) couldn't believe it when we moved in as permanent residents 3 years ago, and when the house next door to us was sold to a family who took up full time residence, her cup runneth over. Two families within 9 months of each other had made her day. I want to produce a picture that shows a short street of old houses which is full of holiday lets. It will have to be a panorama as I want to go up and down each side pointing out which houses are for holiday makers and which have permanent residents. I'm still thinking it through but will make an effort to get the whole module finished fairly soon.
